Candlelight Vigil for Darfur in Copley Square

On International Human Rights Day, December 10, 2006, approximatedly 400 people attended a Candlelight Vigil for Darfur and heard a broad range of speakers and performers, including:

  • Boston’s Mayor Thomas Menino
  • Reverend Doctor Gloria White-Hammond
  • Harvard’s Bec Hamilton
  • Panther Alier, a Sudanese "Lost Boy" survivor
  • Reverend Pamela Foster of Trinity Church
  • Rabbi Carey Brown of Temple Isaiah
  • Bavdeli Gregory Haroutunian of the First Armenian Church of Belmont
  • Bishop Gilbert Thompson of the Jubilee Christian Church
  • Farah Siraj and Joe Jaworski of Berklee College of Music performed Farah's song "To the Sudanese Women"
